 Christ Community Evangelical Free Church is a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America denomination. What is an Evangelical Free Church? Our name is very descriptive of our past. The Evangelical Free Church movement began in Sweden in the 1800's as "evangelical" Christians broke away from the state church which they felt to be spiritually dead. Thus they became "free" from state rule.
The Evangelical Free Church of America is in the mainstream of evangelical Protestant churches. We stress fundamental Biblical truths. We maintain an "interdenominational" flavor, stressing those things, which unite all true believers in Christ, rather than those things which divide. The crucial thing is that each believer hold their own beliefs based on their understanding of the Scriptures, with a love for God and a loving acceptance of other Christians who sincerely differ on minor points of belief.
We do not see ourselves as the "only" church or even as a "perfect" church. We are but one exciting part of Christ's universal church seeking to be filled with His Spirit and serving Him to the best of our ability. We believe in the total Lordship of Christ and the Great Commission to which He calls all believers. |
