During the rest of the summer we will be focusing our attention on a chapter by chapter exposition of the Gospel of Mark. We are calling our message series, Encounters: the Jesus we weren’t expecting. The Gospel writer Mark presents Jesus in a riveting literary narrative that beckons the reader not to maintain a distant and safe curiosity, but to encounter the very One who healed the sick and stilled the sea.  It is my prayer that during this message series the Holy Spirit will shed some new light on just who this Jesus really is, what it means to know Him and what it looks like to truly follow Him. What we discover about Jesus in Mark’s Gospel may simply surprise us and transform us!
